- Levels run 1–10; a short adaptive placement test sets your starting level and your free ceiling (minimum level 3).
- Knowledge is inferred from answer speed (latency), never from self-assessment; known words retire into FSRS spaced repetition.
- Speaking cards are graded from recognized text; recordings never reach Fluentish. Recognition runs on-device where the phone supports the language, otherwise through Apple's or Google's platform speech service.
- Launch language pairs (six): English → Spanish, English → Italian, English → French, English → German, Spanish → English, French → English.
- App interface languages (separate from what you learn): English, Spanish, French.
- Free plan: unlimited scrolling, no ads. Plus ($7.99/mo or $39.99/yr, 7-day trial on annual): all 10 levels, typing/speech cards, dictionary export, streak repair.
