Fluentish is a language-learning app for iOS and Android: an infinite-scroll feed of short exercises that adapts to how fast you answer. It is free through level 3, and Fluentish Plus costs $7.99/month or $39.99/year.
You scroll, you answer, it adapts. There is no lesson, no session, and no end screen, because there is no end.
What it is
Pick a target language and Fluentish places you at a level from 1 to 10. Cards arrive continuously: you answer by tapping, and at higher levels by typing or speaking if you want to. The card types keep rotating, shuffled with rhythm, so it never turns into a worksheet.
It is built for how people actually use their phones: silent, one-handed, in bed or on the train. Typing and speech are opt-in: every card has a tappable fallback.
How it works
- You scroll. The feed never blocks and never runs out. Content is prefetched, so it keeps moving even on a bad connection.
- It watches how fast you answer, not whether you claim to know something. Fast and correct means known. Slow means shaky. Wrong means not yet. No "did you know this?" buttons, ever.
- It adapts quietly. Words you know are retired into FSRS spaced review and resurface later. Words you struggle with come back sooner. Your visible level rises slowly; what you are actually shown adjusts immediately.
What it is not
No hearts, no energy, no countdown timers, no guilt. Scrolling is unlimited on the free plan: we gate progress past level 3, not volume. Nothing is ever "done": learned just means it moved into review and will quietly come back around.
