What is Fluentish?

Fluentish is a language-learning app for iOS and Android built as an infinite, vertically-scrolling feed of short exercises that adapts to how fast you answer. You pick a target language, get placed at a level from 1 to 10, and cards arrive continuously. You answer by tapping, and at higher levels by typing or speaking. How is Fluentish different from Duolingo?

Fluentish replaces the lesson-and-unit structure with one continuous feed: you scroll, you answer, and it adapts, with nothing to finish. It measures what you know from how fast you answer instead of using hearts, XP, or self-assessment, and its free plan never caps how much you can practise in a day. How does Fluentish know what I know?

Fluentish measures how fast you answer each card: fast and correct means known, slow means shaky, wrong means not yet. It never asks "did you already know this?" Answer speed is the signal. Words you know are retired into FSRS spaced repetition and resurface in the feed just before you would forget them.

How much does Fluentish cost?

Fluentish is free through level 3 (or through your placement level, if you place higher), and Fluentish Plus costs $7.99/month or $39.99/year. The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial; the monthly plan has no trial. Scrolling is unlimited on every plan: the paywall gates progress, never volume.

Is Fluentish free?

Yes: the free plan gives you unlimited scrolling forever, at levels up to 3 or up to your placement level if you place higher. Fluentish Plus unlocks all 10 levels plus typing cards, speech cards, dictionary export (CSV and Anki), and streak repair.

Does Fluentish work offline?

Fluentish keeps working through bad connections, on every plan. The cards for your level are stored on your device, your answers are saved locally and synced in batches, and the feed never blocks on the network. Drop off the network entirely and you can keep scrolling the content already on the device; card audio is limited to the clips recently played, and you need a connection the first time you sign in. There is nothing extra to buy for this: it works the same on the free plan and on Plus.

What is a placement test?

The placement test is the short adaptive sequence you get when you first open Fluentish; it places you at a level from 1 to 10. It also sets your free ceiling: everything through level 3 is free, or through your placement level if you place higher. After placement there are no more exams. The feed keeps re-estimating what you know from how you answer.

What languages does Fluentish support?

Fluentish launches with six language pairs: English speakers can learn Spanish, Italian, French or German; Spanish and French speakers can learn English. Each direction is built as its own course with its own content, generated and validated separately rather than mirrored, and more pairs will be added continuously. The app's own interface is available in English, Spanish, French, which is a separate setting from what you are learning.

Does Fluentish record my voice?

No. Fluentish never receives or stores your voice: speaking cards are graded from the text your phone recognizes, not from audio. That recognition runs on your device where your phone supports the language, and otherwise through the platform speech service that already powers your dictation key (Apple on iOS, Google on Android). Speaking is always optional: every card has a tappable fallback.

Is my data private?

Fluentish collects only your sign-in details, your learning progress, and app usage analytics, and it does not sell personal data or show ads. Your voice never reaches Fluentish (speaking cards are graded from text your phone recognizes), and payment details never touch Fluentish servers because Apple and Google handle billing.
